How do I schedule an appointment?
By calling our receptionist at:
Lancaster Campus- 717-285-4843
Gap Campus- 717-442-9577
What can I expect when I call?
When you call our center to start the counseling process, our receptionist will ask for your name and phone number. You will then be contacted by our Intake Coordinator to schedule your intake session which can often be scheduled within a few days and is usually scheduled within 2 weeks, depending on your availability. In order to complete the necessary paperwork, you will be asked to come 15 to 20 minutes early to your intake appointment.
Do you charge for counseling?
Anne Beiler stated in her book “Twist of Faith”, Family Resource & Counseling Centers started by offering Christian counseling services for free. The Beiler’s felt strongly that since God blessed them with resources from Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, they should not charge a fee for counseling services.
As FRCC continued to grow we recognize that we could not meet all of the needs for counseling. We needed to prioritized our giving to those families who have the most financial need. This allowed us to provide more services to more people. We also acknowledge that as humans we place value on things that we pay for and often devalue those things which are given for free. We have decided that to increase participation and ownership in the counseling process it is important that every person pay at least a small amount for the services we are providing.
Today the Community Assistance Fund (CAF) allows families and individuals with limited resources to access quality professional Christian counseling at greatly reduced rates. Individuals, businesses and churches from the community make generous contributions to allow us to continue this vision. If you are interested in partnering with us visit our donations page.
How much will counseling cost?
The initial meeting with our intake counselor is $40. Following that, the fee per session is $100. However, based on your household income and size, a portion of this fee can be subsidized through generous donations from our caring community of friends. Our generous sliding scale allows families living in poverty to access the same professional Christian counseling other with more resources can. To get an idea of what session might cost you please contact one of our intake counselors.
Do you take medical insurance?
A limited number of our counselors are contracted to provide services with some insurance agencies. Medical benefits can be confusing, so the first step for anyone seeking to use their medical insurance is to complete documents to allow us to verify your insurance coverages. You can use this .pdf form: Insurance Verification Form or contact our office to have them faxed to you.
Additionally you can sometime use your out-of-network benefits. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider regarding this possibility. You will be expected to pay upon receiving services and we will provide you with a receipt with the requested codes for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
What can I expect during our first meeting?
Please visit our intake page for a better understanding of our first introduction session and to find .pdf versions of all the paperwork you will need.
Can I choose my counselor?
You are more than welcome to ask for a specific counselor or request if you would rather see a male or female counselor. The intake team works hard to accommodate these preferences. Sometimes due to a counselor’s schedule or other factors, we are not able to accommodate all requests. If you would like to get to know our counselors better, please check out their biographies on the Gap Campus Counselors page and the Lancaster Campus Counselors page.
Is my information private?
All of our services are completely confidential. We do not provide anyone with a list of guests or tell anyone about your counseling at FRCC. We gladly cooperate with others in your family, church or support system if and only if we have your permission to do so. Please be aware that legally we are required to break this confidentiality agreement in the case of suspected child abuse or in the case where someone could be a danger to him/herself or others. If you have any questions, please talk to the intake worker or your counselor.
What about differences in beliefs?
We welcome guests with any or no beliefs. While all of our counselors and staff hold Christian beliefs, that does not mean that we only give counseling to Christians. We would be happy to talk with you about your beliefs, and if you are interested, share some of our beliefs as well. If there is a specific belief issue or church doctrine that is causing problems, with your permission, we would be happy to meet with your pastor regarding it.
I think my friend needs counseling. How can I refer him/her?
You can tell your friend to call one of our offices. Or share our website with them on Facebook. If you need brochures or other materials to give a person, please let us know.
I have a need and I wonder if FRCC could help me. Who do I talk to?
Please feel free to talk to our receptionists. They are very good at telling you what kinds of services we do and do not provide.
